Biodegradable PP spunbond
Disposable packaging, pouches, bags, surface protection
Global production of plastic packaging amounts to an impressive 78 million tonnes annually. However, only 14% of this packaging is recycled after use, while another 14% is used to generate energy through incineration.
Shockingly, 40% of plastic packaging ends up in landfills, where it slowly decomposes over decades. What is particularly worrying is that 32% ends up in the environment uncontrolled, causing widespread microplastic pollution and placing significant strains on ecosystems.
An analysis of the sources of plastic waste in the sea shows that the Asia-Pacific region is the largest contributor to pollution at 80%. Africa follows with 8%, while South America contributes 5.5% and North America 4.5% to the problem. Europe, on the other hand, contributes only a small share of the total pollution at less than 1%.
These alarming figures highlight the urgent need for innovative solutions to rid both the oceans and land of plastic waste and prevent future environmental damage.

The world's first biodegradation technology that enables complete biological transformation of PP and PE materials.
-
RECYCLING
Timed process to enable optimal use phase and reuse where a recycling option is available.
-
TRANSFORMS PLASTIC INTO WAX
Transforms PP and PE materials into a bioavailable wax that can be easily metabolized by naturally occurring microorganisms.
-
ENSURES A SAFE RETURN TO NATURE
After metabolism, neither microplastics nor toxic substances remain.
-
TESTED BY INDEPENDENT LABORATORIES
Tested and certified to the international standard for biodegradability (BSI PAS 9017), supplemented by EN, ASTM and ISO standards (ASTM D5988/ISO 17556)
-
ENABLES INSTANT SCALABILITY
Integrated into plastics and packaging manufacturing to ensure seamless operations.
The 3 phases of the transformation of BIO PP spunbond
-
6 - 24 months
PHASE 1: Storage and use
During the storage and use phase, the technology is inactive. The packaging behaves in the same way as its non-degradable conventional counterparts.
-
3 - 5 months
PHASE 2: Disposal
If the Bio PP spunbond is intentionally or inadvertently released into the environment, long-term exposure to various environmental stimuli such as UV light, moisture, heat or air will trigger a rapid transformation into wax.
-
12 months
PHASE 3: Biotransformation
The resulting bioavailable wax is metabolized by naturally occurring bacteria and fungi in the soil and under medium/high temperature conditions.
